The story of
Debra Lyn Miller, 66, died peacefully on October 30, 2025, while in hospice care at Vesela Assisted Living in Glendale, Arizona. She was born on September 26, 1959, in Elwood, Indiana. Debra graduated from Anderson High School (Class of 1977) and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in 1993 from Arizona State University and her master’s degree from Northern Arizona University. She spent four years as a special education teacher in the Tempe Elementary School District and retired in December 2022 after 25 years of loyal and dedicated public service to Maricopa County, serving as both a special education teacher and principal for the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. Debra had a deep love for the Southwest, a soft spot for her lucky and thoroughly spoiled pets, and an enduring fondness for QVC finds, puzzles, politics, and a good White Russian. “Aunt Doo” also fiercely loved her nephew Nathan Miller (Amy) and nieces Abigail Zakhary (George), Marguerite Kosterman, and Adeline Kosterman, along with their children Elijah Zakhary and Rebecca and Naomi Miller. She was preceded in death by her father, David Miller, and her stepfather, Don Phillippe. She is survived by her mother, Dottie Phillippe; brother, Dean Miller (Carol); sister, Amy Anesi (Anthony); and aunt, Linda Weatherford (Dave).
