The story of
On Thursday evening, September 11, 2025, Ira Ole Gabrielson, aged 83, left this world to be with the Lord. He fought bravely against COPD and Alzheimer’s until the very end. Ira was born to Ole and Emily Gabrielson on June 14, 1942, in Puyallup, Washington. He lived a whole and joyful life surrounded by family and friends. Known for his warm heart and quick wit, Ira was always ready with a helping hand or a joke to bring a smile to those around him. Even as Alzheimer’s challenged him, his love for his family endured, and he cherished them with pride until his final day. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ole and Emily Gabrielson; his beloved wife, Sylvia Gabrielson; his brothers, Olaf Eugene, George William, and Frederick Gabrielson; his sisters, Marjorie Stackhouse, Lucy “Ike” Allison, and Joan Ashe; his grandson, Trevor Moshier; and his son-in-law, Douglas Moshier. Ira is survived by his daughters, Tabitha Moshier of North Carolina, Teresa Gabrielson of Puyallup, Washington, Debbie Banks of South Carolina and his sisters, Katie Bennett and Marie Murr; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of whom he dearly loved; four stepchildren, whom he helped raise with devotion and care; as well as many nieces, nephews, and a large extended family who will miss him deeply. Those blessed to know him will forever remember Ira’s legacy of love, laughter, and resilience. A private family service will be held at a later date. In place of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ira’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, in hopes of finding a cure for the disease that took so much away from him.
