The story of
Timothy Lee Young II passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at the age of 41. His passing has left family and friends heartbroken and stunned, yet comforted by the many memories, laughter, and love he leaves behind. Timothy was born on October 6, 1984, at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance, California. His early years were spent in Long Beach, where he began his education at just three years old at Gethsemane Baptist Church and School. He later attended First Baptist Church and Elementary School of Lakewood, Brethren Christian Junior High in Huntington Beach, and Lakewood High School. Though life took him on a winding path, Tim later earned his GED an accomplishment that reflected his determination, resilience, and lifelong desire to better himself. A natural athlete and musician, Tim played ice hockey in a city league, excelled in football with the Brethren Junior High Warriors, and found his rhythm as a drummer, earning second place at state championships. Music and sports were lifelong passions, as was his loyalty to the San Diego (now Los Angeles) Chargers. That love didn’t stop with him he proudly passed it down to his daughter, Kali, turning game days into shared memories filled with excitement, tradition, and connection that she will carry with her always. Fishing something he learned as a toddler from his father remained one of his favorite ways to relax and reconnect with peace. Tim’s greatest joy in life was being a father. In 2005, while living in Riverside, California, he welcomed his first and only child, Kali Rose Young. Being a “girl dad” was the role he cherished most she was the light of his life, and his love for her was constant and unconditional. Tim is survived by his beloved daughter, Kali (Young) Quattlebaum Thomason; his girlfriend, Nancy “Bumzilla” Curtis, and her children; his sister, Jennifer Young; and his mother, Irene Hilliard. He is also lovingly remembered by his niece and nephews Jaelee Marie Taylor (9), Logan James Young (18), and Brandon Dean Blake Taylor (13) whom he adored. Tim shared an especially close bond with his sister Jennifer; growing up, they were inseparable, and that closeness remained throughout their lives. His love for her and for her children was deep, proud, and unwavering. He was preceded in death by his father, Timothy Lee Young, who passed away in 2015. Tim had a lifelong love for animals and grew up surrounded by them dogs, birds, snakes, squirrels, and more but dogs always held a special place in his heart. Known for his playful spirit and sense of humor, Tim was rarely far from a camera either behind it or joking in front of it. A true horror movie enthusiast, Tim enjoyed everything from paranormal thrillers to gory classics. Wherever he lived, Tim stayed on the move. In Colorado, he cruised on his skateboard; in Arizona, it was his e-bike. He turned everyday streets into adventures especially as a devoted Pokémon Go player, proudly embracing his role as a Pokémon “Trainer.” “Gotta catch ’em all” wasn’t just a slogan to him it was a way of life. Tim also carried quiet battles. He struggled with addiction from his early teens into adulthood, facing challenges that tested his strength. Over time, each attempt at recovery grew stronger, and in the past three years he made meaningful progress and strides toward healing. His journey reflected courage, perseverance, and a desire to keep moving forward. Timothy Lee Young II will be remembered for his big heart, his humor, his curiosity, his love for his family, and the way he lived fully even imperfectly. He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unforgettable moments that will live on in all who knew him.
